Stout

Stout
Beautiful Bar Top and TVsStout is known as an Irish pub, but this place is so much more than that.  This venue screams casual but classy with it’s brand new décor and renovated design.  The bar has every drink imaginable, including your Irish favorites.  As you walk in, plasma televisions cover all the walls letting you know this is the ultimate spot to watch a sports game.  So kick back with a cool drink, and catch a great game at Stout’s.

Pool Table and TVsWhat’s a pub without some fun?  At Stout, the staff is friendly, fun, and their service is impeccable.  They make sure you have a great time and are very accommodating.  If you want a bite, you can sit in one of their comfortable booths that also come with it’s own television.  Just like the comforts of home.  Their new pool table is also in the back just waiting for a good game to happen. Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Stout.

Steak FlatbreadStout provides an amazing menu of foods.  Classic favorites like a 14oz Sterling Silver New York Strip Steak and Grilled Chicken Wings are always a hit.  I would highly recommend their Seared Tuna Oriental Salad (perfection!) and Steak Flatbread followed by some dessert.  Chocolate Molten Cake, anyone?  If you catch the Irish spirit, Stout does not disappoint.  They keep the tradition alive here with fish & chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd’s pie.  Click Here for Stout’s Facebook Page.

O-B House

O-B House
Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast HouseI have just found my favorite breakfast spot ever!  The only place to eat the most important meal of the day is at the Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House.  Located right next to The Museum of Discovery and Science & the AutoNation Building, you have the option to either drive your car or dock your boat.  The Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House loves the life of the sea!  Even their logo consists of a ship’s anchor.  Click Here for InTown's Listing of Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House.

Eggs and Spinach
Inside, the décor is simple and inviting, yet there are many hidden treasures, such as books by Hemmingway and classic photos of boats and fishing in Fort Lauderdale.  On the menu are even more treasures.  I highly recommend the divine (and healthy) “Poached and Roasted”, one of their breakfast specials, which consists of poached eggs, spinach, roasted potatoes, and fresh-baked bread.  Once you taste the food, you will quickly discover you’re not just another order number here.  This place cooks their meals with love, care, and to perfection.  Only high-quality food is served here.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House.

PancakeWhat’s a breakfast without some pancakes?  If you haven’t been to the Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House, you haven’t tasted some real pancakes!  We’ve all seen them flipped in a pan.  But here, pancakes are made in a cast-iron skillet and then baked.  The result is heavenly.  You can smell the sweet aroma by just cutting it.  Ever detail here is accounted for.  The orange juice is freshly squeezed.  The food is made with the best and local ingredients.  Even the flowers on your table are fresh-cut.  Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House shows you how breakfast should really be done!  Click Here for Old Fort Lauderdale’s Breakfast House’s website.

Rocketman

Rocketman
RocketmanIt's a bird!  It's a plane!  No, it's Rocketman!!!  In Fort Lauderdale, we live for water activities, but Rocketman is more than that.  This is an experience!  You have the chance to fly up to the 30 feet above the water.  Blasting off for the first time in Fort Lauderdale, you can be one of the first to experience this safe and enjoyable flight.  Click Here for InTown’s Listing of Rocketman.

Rocketman in LakeThe Rocketman jet pack includes state-of-the-art technology that will give you the best ride possible.  You control your own speed and movements as you fly.  It’s almost as if you have morphed into your inner superhero (we all have one).  Turn, dip, and dive over the Atlantic Ocean.  That's right!  Being an awesome superhero is no longer for just Superman or Wonderwoman.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Rocketman.

Rocketman WheelBy no means is this a solo event.  You and your friends can all have fun at The Rocketman Experience.  Bring some food, drinks, and good music, and sit by the water.  Have a cold drink and enjoy the view of someone flying over the lake with some Elton John (Rocket Man, anyone?) playing in the background.  Click Here for Rocketman’s website.

Primanti Bros.

Primanti Brothers
Turkey Sandwich with Cole Slaw and FriesThere is only one way to eat a sandwich…with cole slaw, onion, and fries in it.  Yes, Primanti Bros. has officially converted me.  Eating a sandwich any other way would just be sinful now.  Whether it’s turkey, pastrami, or egg and cheese, being able to eat your meal and sides all in one bite may just be the greatest concept ever!  Click Here for InTown’s Lising of Primanti Bros.

PizzaTheir sandwiches are legendary, but Primanti brings you more than that!  Their made-from-scratch, hand-tossed pizzas with homemade sauce are created with fresh dough that rises right on the counter.  They also serve them by “the really big slice” (genius!).  Those generous slices stand out not only in their size, but also in their quality taste – absolutely delicious.  You can eat them at any time of the day.  Primanti’s is open 24/7 on Fort Lauderdale Beach.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Primanti Bros.

Primanti Brothers RestaurantThis is one of those places where the selection of food works for everyone.  The comfortable atmosphere is inviting, which compliments their friendly staff, who might tease you if you can’t finish those enormous sandwiches.  The famous Primanti Bros. restaurants have even been featured on The Travel Channel, but unlike the other viewers, you don’t have to go far for your fix.  Visit one of their three locations in Sunrise, Wilton Manors, and Fort Lauderdale Beach.  Click Here for Primanti Bros. website.

Jungle Queen Riverboat

Jungle Queen Riverboat
Jungle Queen LifesaverFort Lauderdale is a spectacular city, but you can’t see the “real” scenery on the road.  It can only be done on water – more specifically, the waters of the Jungle Queen cruise.  Departing at 9:30am and 1:30pm, the ever-changing view gives you a glimpse into the epitome of luxury.  The three-hour tour takes you over the waters of places, such as Millionaire’s Row, Riverfront, and Port Everglades.  Click Here for InTown’s Listing of the Jungle Queen Riverboat.

Jungle Queen IslandAs you leave the dock, the first sight is of “Tranquility”, NY Mayor Bloomberg’s yacht.  Captain Lyle brings the whole scene to life with his informative comments and witty humor.  One of the yachts we pass is owned by Waste Management and called “Business Stinks”.  As you pass the million-dollar mansions owned by stars and local business celebrities, you learn things about Fort Lauderdale that even a 20-year resident (like myself) wouldn’t have known.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Jungle Queen Riverboat.

ShowThe four-hour dinner cruise is more than sightseeing.  It’s an event in itself.  Every night at 6pm, the Jungle Queen cruises the waters.  Everyone who sees the riverboat always waves to it.  As it passes the mansions, yachts, and historic dwellings, we come ashore on the Jungle Queen Tropical Isle.  It’s a beautiful lit-up “island” filled with exotic birds, macaws, and alligators.  Walk a little further and find the most delicious food!  All you can eat ribs, chicken shrimp, sides, and the greatest baked beans awaits your palete.  Following the meal comes chocolate cake, coffee, and a hilarious comedy show.  Once you’ve been fed and fully entertained, it's time to head back on the riverboat for a relaxing ride back to the dock.  Jungle Queen is truly a local treasure to be experienced by all.  Click Here for Jungle Queen Riverboat’s website.

Bluefoot Pirate Adventures

Bluefoot Pirate Adventures
Water Cannons on Bluefoot Ship“A pirate’s life is the life for me.”  It’s hard to find that kind of life in the sunny seas of Fort Lauderdale, but there is one boat out there that understands it.  Tucked behind the Bahia Mar lies the hidden gem of Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.  It’s not just about looking like a pirate here.  You’ve got to talk that talk, or walk the plank.  Arr, Matey! Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.

PiratesBluefoot Pirate Adventures offers a real journey for the whole family.  They dress you up like a pirate (swords, eye patch, and all) and teach you to talk like one as well.  Not once will they let up on their buccaneer character, especially first mate “Quick-Handed Jill”.  As Captain Kyle steers the ship during your journey, the kids get to do it all!  They begin their voyage by looking for the key to a treasure chest.  With the help of a map, they match the colors of the mansions off the Intracoastal Waterway to their map.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.

Spraying Water from CannonsAs you enjoy the cool breeze of the waters, the mini-pirates are off blasting their water cannons against the evil Barnacle Bill who comes by to try and steal their treasure chest.  You can never go wrong when kids get to spray water in someone’s face.  Alas, with the help of Davy Jones (that’s right), the key to the chest is found and treasure is shared among all on the ship.  Yes, Bluefoot Pirate Adventures is truly something different.  They provide an amazing pirate voyage that you can’t find anywhere else.  As they say, “Bluefoot is the finest pirate ship in Broward County”!  True, they are the only pirate ship in Broward County, but that statement still stands strong.  Click Here for Bluefoot Pirate Adventures’ website.

Riverfront Cruises

Riverfront Cruises
Riverfront CruisesWe live in a world obsessed with celebrities and their many luxuries.  Instead of watching it on MTV, why not see the real thing on Riverfront Cruises?  As you embark on this water voyage, the staff, who is extremely accommodating, will take your picture for this memorable moment.  Take a seat aboard this spacious yacht and feel the refreshing breeze as you cruise along the New River and the Intracoastal Waterway.  This is truly a treasure tucked right behind Las Olas.  Click Here for InTown’s Listing of Riverfront Cruises.

YachtAs the trip begins, the captain keeps things lighthearted by first pointing out the courthouse where Whitney picked up Bobby Brown.  Then, things start to get extravagant….a lot more extravagant.  We begin by viewing million dollar mansions and you are literally in their backyard peeking in.  Get a peek at the opulence that is the Wayne Huizenga Estate or the Michael Egan Compound.  The knowledgeable captain even brings us by Gloria Vanderbilt's home and informs us that Anderson Cooper is her son (who knew?).  As we sit on the luxurious cruise and pass by the homes of the rich and famous, we might start feeling a tad lavish ourselves.  Click Here for InTown's Gallery of Riverfront Cruises.

Dining Area and Bar on YachtAfter passing by the homes of Miami Vice, Bugsy Siegel, and even Al Capone, we make our way to the mega yachts.  This is where you can see Judge Judy's yacht, Triumphant Lady, up close and personal, but that's just the scratch of the surface.  Next to it stands the magnificent monstrosity of Steven Spielberg's 200 million dollar yacht.  Yes, we can undoubtedly observe the luxury of Fort Lauderdale, but we also see its history as our captain will point out.  As you enjoy the ride, head downstairs for a cool drink and light snack.   It perfectly compliments the invigorating breeze, extravagent assets, and the sun setting on the water.  Riverfront Cruises truly provides a spectacular waterway tour.  Click here for Riverfront Cruises' website. Share on stumbleupon
