Pirate Republic Seafood and Grill

Shiver me timbers! Ye have arrived at Fort Lauderdale’s popular Pirate Republic Seafood and Grill. Located on the water on SW 3^rdAvenue, you can arrive by land or by water taxi. You will be greeted with a squawk by live parrots at the entrance. Pirate Republic began in 2005 as “The Pirate Shop” which evolved into “The Pirate Bar” and eventually into the full service restaurant it is today.  Wander around and check out the life size pirate statues throughout the restaurant! 

Boasting a Happy Hour from 4pm-7pm, which includes a $7 tapas menu, Pirate Republic is a great place to relax by the water with a drink and some fresh seafood. With an extensive lunch and dinner menu featuring various seafood and meat dishes as well as many vegetarian options there are plenty of choices for everyone. Be sure to come hungry, as the portions at Pirate Republic are generous and delicious. 

Seafood dishes from Pirate Republic include a plethora of combination plates such as their signature dish featuring shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams, as well as simple fish sandwiches and salads.  For meat lovers, Pirate Republic has a variety of steak and chicken dishes as well as a full array of burgers. Fresh fish of the day is prepared many different ways.  The Bretone is sautéed with mushrooms, capers, crabmeat and jumbo shrimp in a lemon butter and white wine sauce.  The Key West preparation is lightly sautéed in butter and white wine sauce and then topped with jumbo shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat and garnished with sliced avocados.  Billy’s generous portions and fresh ingredients will keep you coming back.

Head downstairs to Billy’s Marketplace on the lower level.  Here you can find fresh shrimp, stone crab, snapper, and grouper to purchase.  Billy’s Stone Crab prides themselves on their selection of fresh Florida seafood that is wild caught, and never farmed.
