Primanti Bros.

There is only one way to eat a sandwich…with cole slaw, onion, and fries in it.  Yes, Primanti Bros. has officially converted me.  Eating a sandwich any other way would just be sinful now.  Whether it’s turkey, pastrami, or egg and cheese, being able to eat your meal and sides all in one bite may just be the greatest concept ever!  Click Here for InTown’s Lising of Primanti Bros.

15th Street Fisheries

What you see isn't what you get in Fort Lauderdale. There's way more than meets the eye if you know what you're looking for. How in the heck, you might ask, are you supposed to find those off-the-beaten-track treasures? Well, that's easy. Intown411 is here to help you find your way. First, we'd like to introduce 15th Street Fisheries.

Tucked way in the back of the quiet residential Rio Vista neighborhood, south of 17th Street Causeway (turn off 17th at Cordova, make a right on 15th and take it all the way to the end of the road), 15th Street Fisheries is a hard, but worthy find...

The restaurant is, in a sense, two restaurants in one. Upstairs, the formal red-lit dining room offers the area's best seafood, such as Jewels of the Sea (a combination of mussels in shell, 1/2 Maine lobster, diver scallops, shrimp and fish), in an elegant dining room; the downstairs dining room serves high-quality casual fare, such as conch salad, conch fritters, raw oysters, steamed clams, fried alligator and sandwiches. You can't miss the sprawling complex from the water though; the boatless might even want to consider taking the Water Taxi. Bring your children or the child that resides within your heart to 15th St between 5 and 6 p.m. to feed the tarpon, huge native fish that swim in Lauderdale waters. The waters are lit up from underneath, so you won't miss a thing.

Brunch: Bimini Boatyard

Bimini Boatyard Sunday Brunch, Weekly from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 12:30 p.m. on a recent Sunday afternoon, Matt and I checked out the moderately-priced Sunday buffet brunch at Bimini Boatyard. As knowledge of local brunch spots is a top priority for Intown, we made it an official Intown 411 Events Team date!! The cost is $32.95 per adult and $13.95 for kids between the ages of 5 and 12-years-old, which doesn't make Bimini's fixed-price brunch the cheapest in town, but it's also not one of those brunches that calls itself "brunch" when it's really just breakfast.

Sunday Brunch Bimini Boatyard Fort Lauderdale: For the breakfast part of brunch, Bimini serves up made-to-order omelets, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage as well as Bimini bread french toast and fresh fruit. The offerings were fresh and appetizing, but we were surprised that we couldn't find breakfast potatoes of any kind among the selections. Also, one alcoholic beverage -- mimosa or bloody mary -- is included with the brunch, which is excellent (and better than when brunches serve watered-down unlimited drinks), but we thought it strange that coffee was not included. These little issues were very easy to overlook once we started to explore the lunch offerings at Sunday Brunch Bimini Boatyard Fort Lauderdale. It's the seafood and the lunch food stations that really put the meal over the top. With snow crab, shrimp, oysters, made-to-order pasta, a large variety of salads, and a turkey and roast beef carving station, we decided that if the food was as good as it sounded, Sunday Brunch Bimini Boatyard Fort Lauderdale might just be the best value in town. We both ended the afternoon in the same way: with key lime pie tarts and different types of cheesecake from the dessert table. But, we started the meal with very different ideas in mind, as you can see below.

Matt's Brunch: Matt started off with eggs benedict, chicken breast, roast beef from the carving table, mozarella salad and two oysters. Matt's second round featured his favorite offering: a made-to-order omelet with spinach, sausage, red and green peppers and swiss cheese, which he said was "One of the better brunch omelets I've had."

Court's Brunch: I chose to emphasize breakfast on my first plate, which was filled with eggs benedict, scrambled eggs and plenty of bacon. I also tried the lox with capers and braved one oyster. I went heavy on the lox in the second round. The texture of the fish delighted me and the flavor, offset by the salty capers, was mild. That was my favorite item, but the bloody mary, I must say, was excellent as well. It wasn't a drinking day for me; but if it had been, I would have explored the make-your-own bloody mary bar.

Guacamoles Fort Lauderdale

Truly a mom-and-pop establishment, Guacamoles Fort Lauderdale is owned and run by a husband and wife. From Mexico, they brought over the family's heirlooms, which decorate the restaurant, and his mother, whose recipes are featured in each menu item. Everything is cooked to order using the freshest ingredients and most authentic seasonings. The atmosphere at Guacamoles Fort Lauderdale is friendly and welcoming, with bright colors and lots of interesting cultural objects de art to feast your eyes on. Service is quick, but do order an appetizer as they will be making your meal to your specifications, and that kind of care takes a few minutes. The salsa is incredible and customizable. Their specialties are: guacamole, quesadillas, hangover soup (guaranteed to cure you in a couple of hours), burritos (the most popular item), and 100% fruit smoothies. Fine dining experiences are readily available at reasonable prices at Crowne Plaza Hollywood’s Elements Bistro. Elements takes it up a notch by offering perfectly prepared dishes such as filet mignon, nobashi shrimp with red chili sauce, crab cakes, and shrimp scampi. Briny's Irish Pub

Good friends, food, and drinks with a view of the river – what a fun time at Briny’s!  Once you come to Irish pub and restaurant, you can’t miss the nautical decorations that fill the ceiling.  It gives you a feel of their relaxing atmosphere that overlooks New River.  As you look out, you can also enjoy the view of the Jungle Queen and Riverfront Cruise boats sailing by. The shrimp cocktail with hint of horseradish is a great way to start the meal.  For the entrees, the hamburger was cooked to perfection, and Briny’s famous fish and chips are a must-have!  My favorite dessert is key-lime pie.  The moment I saw it on the menu, I had to order it and this was no mistake.  It was beautifully presented with whipped cream and green and red syrup.  The pie itself was just as delectable and truly, one of the best I have ever had.  Click Here for InTown’s Gallery of Briny Irish Pub.

This is an Irish pub so naturally, the mixtures of Guinness (black & tan, half & half, etc…) are all here.   The outdoor dining go great with a bikini martini, made of coconut rum, Midori melon, and pineapple juice.   At night, the place just lights up.  With the evening crowd, the liveliness and energy is infectious.  They also provide live entertainment.  It's just one of those places you always want to come back to.  So join in on the good times, and eat, drink, and dance the night away at Briny's Irish Pub and Restaurant!  Click here For Briny Irish Pub’s website.
