Sublime Restaurant

Sublime Restaurant Fort Lauderdale
Sublime Restaurant Fort Lauderdale is a vegetarian stronghold in a city known for its upscale steakhouses and casual barbeque joints. It's not only the surprisingly complex meatless menu that sets Sublime Restaurant Fort Lauderdale apart from other area restaurants, but also its soothing atmosphere. Beacuase the upscale restaruant donates all of its proceeds to the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, an evening at Sublime Restaurant Fort Lauderdale is truly guiltless. But, what's the dining experience like and what's on the menu? Read on...
The Sublime Experience
The Sublime Experience: Clear your schedule. Take time to experience the ambiance and service, which the restaurant advertises as “legendary”. Does it deliver? Quite simply, yes. The tidily-dressed greeters smile and make eye contact as do the waiters who pop by frequently to refill water glasses, recommend dishes and answer questions. On a recent visit, the waiter, a brown-haired young man in an impeccable black shirt and tie, was on point from pouring water to pitching dessert. As he filled the water glasses, he asked, “Would you like anything else to drink?”  Yes of course; wine must be part of any sublime experience. The Loredona Riesling and the Coppola Cabernet Sauvignon would do quite well. A second waiter delivered the wine with the charming quip, “Who’s the lucky winner of the Coppola Cabernet? It’s delicious.” He was right. The riesling was fine too -- crisp and refreshing.
Exploring a Meatless Menu: Appetizers. The loaf of bread ($3.75) comes with a garlic butter sauce. The bread alone did not possess a strong flavor, but the chopped garlic in the sauce helped a great deal. TThe fire-roasted artichoke appetizer ($10) was next. The roasting-“butter” garlic sauce combination draws out the artichokes all-too-often subtle flavor and realizes its full potential. Hands down, Sublime's take on the artichoke is extraordinary, well worth exploring. Artichoke
The Shepherdless Pie ($17) comes in a single-serving sized white soup crock with a side of seasonal vegetables. The warm mixture of potatoes, corn, peas and gardein crumbles meat substitute had that warming, stick-to-your-ribs kind of texture you hope for when ordering comfort food. The meat substitute blends into the vegetable flavors, so it’s difficult to assess just how meaty the flavor is, but with a touch of jalapeño, the Shepherdless Pie has a unique and appealing flavor all it's own. Sublime’s “Steak” Sandwich ($16) comes shaped like a hamburger with a side of sweet potato french fries that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Like the Shepherdless Pie, the “steak” inside the sandwich is also made from a gardein product. The sandwich imitates beef flavor more convincingly than the Shepherdless Pie, but at this point in the meal, you become more interested in tasting the flavor combinations at hand than comparing them to their real-meat counterparts.

With its light jazz and waterfall windows, Sublime's ambiance is the perfect antidote for the stresses that vegetarians endure day in and out when dining with non-vegetarian friends and family -- we had to make a special Thanksgiving dinner because of you!  A haven of animal-loving calm in a meat-eater's world, Sublime promotes the meat-free lifestyle both on the table and behind the scenes: the restaurant donates 100% of its proceeds to support animal rights organizations.
